Our roots
Our mission is to inform, educate, train, support and advocate for individuals who are at risk of or experiencing behavioral-health challenges.
Established in April 2001 by families to help families navigate systems of care, Federation works toward a future where people have the knowledge and skills to help themselves and others.
As a family-run agency, we focus on the strength of the family unit. Counseling, workshops and support groups can make a meaningful difference when a young person is navigating an emotional or behavioral-health challenge. Parents and guardians gain practical tools to support the young people in their care.
“Nothing about families without families.”
More than 40 years of human-services leadership across behavioral health, family support, prevention, outreach and community development.
Transformative impact
We work to inspire hope, strengthen purpose and make a meaningful difference for people facing difficult circumstances.
We offer guidance, encouragement and practical resources to help each person navigate challenges and pursue their goals with confidence.
Our work extends beyond individual impact, strengthening the connections that create more inclusive and supportive communities.
We nurture the strengths and talents within each person, empowering them to build a future filled with possibilities.
We cultivate resilience, determination and compassion—values that can guide and inspire the next generation.
How we help
Every family’s path is different. We listen first, then connect people with useful information, trusted partners and the next right step.

Daily-living skills, case navigation, resource linkage, peer groups, parent education and support for greater stability and independence.

Children and youth build resilience and learn how to navigate challenges through the life skills taught in our afterschool and summer programs. Our evidence-based practices provide practical and emotional tools that help young people cope with life’s challenges.
In a safe, stigma-free environment focused on holistic well-being, young people build skills in self-esteem, communication, conflict resolution, anger and stress management, health and nutrition, money management, decision-making, goal setting, and resisting drug and alcohol use.
By partnering with parents and school-based professionals, youth gain access to vital mental-health services and strategies that help them thrive academically and personally. Meals and transportation are also provided.
Everyone deserves good mental health. We provide support and education that help adults and parents reduce stress, isolation and loneliness while building on each person’s strengths. Services may be offered in a person’s home, workplace or community to improve access, comfort, recovery and independence.
Join a system of care for individuals, youth and families living and working in rural western Palm Beach County—including South Bay, Pahokee, Belle Glade and nearby unincorporated communities.

Families told us that addressing mental health is difficult when basic needs are not met. Food for Families responds through soup-kitchen meals, drive-through and pantry distributions, and the community garden—serving thousands of people each year.
The garden and feeding program increase access to fruits and vegetables, encourage healthier eating, support hands-on science and nutrition education, and strengthen the community bonds that contribute to physical and emotional health.
“I put my troubles in the garden.”
The Woosah Garden is food for the soul as well as the belly. Youth and senior volunteers grow herbs and vegetables while creating a welcoming place for food, family and fun. Federation is also working toward a South Bay farmers market featuring local produce and artisanal goods.
